Knightor's top wedding trends for Summer 2019

23/2/2019

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed with the amount of articles and top tips for this years upcoming wedding trends..? We're not surprised! To make it easier for you, we have narrowed down our favourites that would look simply fantastic here at Knightor Winery. Here's what's hot for Summer 2019 weddings.

RUSTIC BARN VENUES
Rustic wedding venues were a popular choice for 2018 so we are very chuffed that the rustic barns are still hot for 2019!
Knightor’s main barn is a handsome example of typical late 18th or early 19th century, multi-purpose farm building, incorporating both a shippon and a threshing barn. Our high beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls create a natural yet simple backdrop for any style of wedding. Each rustic barn has its own unique character and with its big open spaces, it's perfect for creating your unique wedding.

FESTIVAL WEDDINGS
Now it may not be brand new to 2019 but festival weddings are still in this summer. Last years festival weddings were inspired by 'shabby chic' however, this summer it’s all about being minimal but bold! Think bright statements, think green, and think sparkle!

So we may be steering away from the ever-so-cute shabby chic this year but do not worry, we still be keeping our floral crowns, colourful bunting and hay bales. This year's couples are approaching these classic festival decorations with a little more creative elegance. More green foliage, more flower instalments and big
colourful statement finishes to create the natural feel festival weddings are all about.

And for those of you who are holding your own boho inspired festival wedding this year, why not think about adding a little metallic decor to your table set up, dried foliage or pampas grass to your floral installations or bouquet. Statement materials like these are really in this summer and give your wedding that organic but classy look.

And of course you can’t throw a festival inspired wedding without a little glitz. We've already mentioned that summer 2019 is all about going big, so don't be afraid of booking that disco ball or glitter bar you had your eye on!

FOOD
Us Brits are known for loving a good buffet spread so you will be very happy to hear that the biggest food trend for summer 2019 is something called 'grazing tables'. If you haven't already heard about them they are large table displays covered in wheels of cheeses, charcuterie meats, whole loaf homemade breads, chutneys and fruits. The thought behind these grazing tables was to make eating a more sociable thing. Food is such a big part of every wedding so why not add an element of fun for guests. All of the ingredients should be locally sourced and displayed in such a way some people have even called it an art!

For those of you looking for something even more casual what about going with a food van. This is another trend for summer 2019 and a funky way to serve your guests their food. With a rise in creative cooking and exotic flavours there is no wonder these funky food vans have made it on this year's list. A few of our favourites here at Knightor have been Mexican tacos, fire baked pizza cooked from a converted horse truck and dessert from an ice cream van serving boozy ice lollies!

ECO WEDDINGS
With so much going on in the world around saving our planet it not a surprise that eco-weddings have made this year's wedding trends. Not only are brides choosing to hold plastic free weddings, wedding suppliers are now choosing to improve their businesses by going greener. There are so many different ways that you too can do your bit in holding a greener wedding day and I promise you won’t even notice you're doing them!

Why not start by choosing an eco-venue, or even somewhere close to home to reduce the time for travel. Take a look at the decorations you are looking into and try and stay away from single use plastic. Have a go at making things like your favours or up-cycling old items at home. Holding an eco-wedding can be very rewarding and very simple if you know how!

BREAKING THE RULES
This year our modern brides are feeling a little rebellious and throwing those old school traditions right out of the door! It's great to see that with times changing so is the wedding industry. Why not mix things up with a bit of colour on your dress. We have seen some fantastic looks here at Knightor, with statement sequin dresses to colourful embroidery on the traditional white background. Other broken traditions to expect this year are speeches before dinner, bride or maid of honour speeches, or if you don't want to make a day of it why not hold the ceremony at 4pm?! Breaking tradition is great way to make your day more personal for you.
